i heard a funny story that i thought i would share

apparently the cheap-man store CostCo has a 6 month return policy on computers...keep ur reciept and packaging and return the computer in 5 months and buy the newest version....i spoke to a guy who claims hes been doin it for 2 years...now keep in mind that they sell like cheap HP's or compaq's or watever

if i had no $$$$$$ id give it a try

lol kinda funny yeh?

Not really funny, that is taking advantage to the max. But with a 6 month return period they are asking for it....almost.

Six month return policy? What the fuck for? If you keep it for even a month and you aren't satisified with it then it is your own stupid fault. I just can't see the reasoning behind have a six month return window. Sure, your friend is screwing them, but he is working within their policy.

I guess this is what they get for being nice. I hate people like your friend. Costco is a nice company - why can't he try to fuck over a shitty company like best buy?

Hey now, just because you don't like best buy(neither do I) doesn't make it okay to fuck them over. You do realize that would put you in the same position as this guy's friend.

They may be trying to be nice, but it makes horrible business sense. Suppose a person legitimately has a reason to return a computer after five and a half months. He isn't trying to screw them over, but the company will still be out the money. They can't turn around and sell a six month old computer for the same price it sold for originally.

Yep. You're definetely asking for a flame war buddy. Back up your words next time.

I think I read somewhere that Costco gets incredible deals from manufacturers because of their ability to move merchandise. The reason they have their generous return policies is because the manufacturers give that same promise to Costco, and so they can afford to do so. Call me cheap, but as soon as Costco gets their new line of Sprint phones in, I'm taking my A620, returning it for the full $300 I paid, and getting a new phone from there. They know people do it, and if it was effecting their bottom line that much, they'd put a stop to it.
