The folks at Shacknews are hosting AGEIA’s free game Warmonger. The Unreal Engine 3 powered shooter has six levels and, although it is recommended, a PhysX card is not required. Here’s to hoping it is better than those levels released the other day. Post your thoughts in the comments section.

The 437mb download includes six levels featuring a wide array of destructable objects and buildings. An AGEIA PhysX accelerator is required to get the most out of this game, however it will run without one.

Id like to try the game with a PhysX card and though it may be temping at the $100 mark it still doesn't seem worth it. This game is pretty mediocre compared to other titles recently released. I'm sure everyone is sick of being compared to Crysis but that just says alot of the game. If Crysis had Ageia PhysX it would have been that killer app to make everyone want Physx, much like it did to make alot of people want DX10.
 
Trying to remain impartial on this is hard because one thing I do know is games. The games look bad, the clipping is bad, performance is subpar (downright painful for non-AGEIA folks) and the physics do not behave as you would expect.

I dunno, I was hopeful when they announced the "hundreds of games coming" over a year ago. Where all those games went...who knows. :confused:

I was saying the same thing back when PhysX came out. Maybe if it were $100 i'd buy one. Now, maybe if it's $75 i'd buy one. :D

Ugly pebble debris and enhancements mostly to games I don't even play make it uninteresting to me.
 
I look at the 4th screenshot thats posted and i just cant figure out what the hell is happening there. Theres no way im going to download something so screwed up, even for free!
 
I guess it's another way for all the suckers who bought AGEIA to not feels screwed over since theres 2 games out that use them. LOL even if it's just a UT3 Mod

Looks like something programmed by SOE. Looks like crap in other words.

Well, what do you expect for free.
 
Is that a sheet going through a tire? So much for physics...unless of course that is the spirit of a dead sheet blowing in the wind after it was shot.
 
Unfortunately developers haven't focused on cloth physics interacting with much of the the environment... yet!

I've been playing the beta for the last month, and its not bad. Being able to demolish buildings via gunfire is somewhat fun for the first hour or so.
 
The top Right screeny is really, REALLY stunning.

Crysis has NOTHING on that car, rendered in 16 colours.
