I'm not sure if this is the place to put this, but I can't think of anywhere else.

TV's run at 30 FPS. Movies usually at 24 FPS. But the fact is, when playing games, those framerates usually do not suffice. In other words, a ton more jerkiness is seen on PC games at 30 frames, for example, than TV shows.

Question: Why?

I can't seem to find the answer...although I remember there was a certain method that TV's and movies used that linked the frames together a lot more seamlessly than PC monitors do. In any event, if there is a simple response, I'd like to hear it.

Thanks.

TV's are interlaced, while monitors are progressive scan. 30fps interlaced is the optical equivalent of 60fps. Don't know about movies, but I think that since each frame of a movie is displayed "instantaneously" there is not the sense of discontinuity between frames. I also think that when a pc game drops below 30fps, it becomes noticeable because this number is an average...I think that some frames get dropped, or are otherwise delayed....so that there is a perception of jerkyness.

how about progressive dvd players mated with a tv that is able to do progressive scanning?
it still looks hella better looking than games with 200fps.
