I've looked around for a solution but have come across squat except people facing similar problems but never getting a solution. My DVI port on the monitor is not working, regardless of video card/motherboard/DVI cable I use. I can use the D-sub port as well as the HDMI and the composite, but it is the DVI port that doesn't work.

Can this even be fixed or should I give up hope? I'm out of warranty. :(

Thanks.

HDMI is as good as DVI, the exact same signaling, the same digital signal. I'd say your in luck there, just use that route. You won't be losing anything.

HDMI doesn't let me use my monitor's native resolution of 1920x1200. It scales down to 1920x1080 and there are black bars all around.

Worst case you should only have black bars on top and bottom, not on sides.

Try going into advanced settings, and check the option to show all resolutions, force 1920x1200.

No, I can get 1920x1200 over D-sub just fine but I get problems whenever I try to go into 1920x1080 mode because the image is just too large that not everything fits on the monitor. There seems to be a scaling issue over D-sub. The image appears to be at a resolution higher than 1920x1200 so it overscans and I get 3/4 of the image but a lot of the picture is offscreen.

On another forum, I was told that it was an EDID-header corruption on my monitor's end. I'll need to upload an EDID override to the monitor. Anyone know how I can do any of that?

I got the DVI port working by using PowerStrip (had to register it for $30). Now I'm experiencing resolution glitches when using high resolutions.
