I traded a large drive (120gb) to my buddy for some small ones for extra machines I have around the house. In the deal I got a 10gb (or is it 8GB) WD Protege drive.

I tried to put it in a machine and install XP pro (SP1A) on it, but it would not install. It shows the drive partition and all, but gives me an error saying it cannot format. I then tried it in my other machine, it shows up in the device driver screen, but does not allow me to do anything to it. That machine is running XP home. I also tried it in my buddies machine running XP pro (SP2), and he could not even see the drive.

Anyone have any ideas on what to try. I have one other machine to try it on, but it is having problems itself.

xbox hard drives are locked with a code from the eeprom on the xbox. You should check up on the xbox-scene forums about it becuase they would be the "experts" on it. As fas as i know, you would need to unlock it using a program called configmagic in a modded xbox. They might have something new that can do it on a pc that i don't know about though
/doesn't keep up on the scene as long as XBMC is working for me.
