These are the last set of practice pictures i'll be able to take until tomorrows scrimage game that kicks off the season. Every friday night hopefully until thanksgiving (the week of the state championship game) there will be a game, and i will be there taking pictures. In the past month of doing tihs i've learned a ton about my own skill, the limitations to my equipment, and the tactics i should be using on the field. It has also kept me close to the sport i love more then any other, however did not excell in. Check out all of them at www.questphotos.com/football.

Thanks for any feedback.

hey tq, think i can manage shots as chrisp with a lens around f4 or so... and what speed were you shooting at (i guess that plays into my question a bit).

For the situations i was shooting at (miday sun) you shouldnt have a problem shooting F/8 really.

Most of those shutter speeds were in the 1/1500 range at F/2.8.

The real issues for a lens at F/4 would come tomorrow NIGHT. That is the single biggest reason i own the lens i do...otherwise i would have bought the 100-400. Problem was that it just isnt fast enough i dont think for highschool football field lighting. Hopefully i'm wrong though because then i'll have some wicked shutter speeds (or lower ISO's) with the f/2.8.

All of this is speculation and i'll just have to wait until tomorrow.

yeah i concur on the night bit... epsically long distances... bring a tripod!

If anything i'd be brining a monopod, but the 70-200 is not a heavy lens...nor a long lens, and at the shutter speeds needed to capture action a tripod will do me no good, in fact i suspect it would hinder my abilities.
