Is it possible to fold with multiple GPUs?

I have a 9600GT currently folding but I would like my 9500GT (or future better GPU) to start folding as well.

I know that I cannot combine the two in one folding app, but is it possible to run a second and have the second GPU work at the same time as the other?

Please let me know!


btw, I know I can run the CPU app as well, but I would rather have two GPU apps running instead. :)
 
Its indeed possible, though I'm not sure the 9500 will produce much. The Horde Guides have a great howto on getting everything set up.

So why not 2 GPU clients AND a CPU client? :D
 
The 9500GT has a different number of shaders than the 9600GT, and that will probably lower your overall PPD if you run them in the same machine. If you have another PC that you can use the card in, I would suggest that you do that instead.

about those shaders, the Primary vidcard should fold at full speed, the secondary (assuming less shaders) will fold at some percentage less, but overall it would be an improvement.

example
solo
GTX260 (192SP) = 7000 PPD

paired
GTX260 (192SP) = 5400 PPD
GTX260 (216SP) = 7500 PPD

note in above examples, my shaders are heavily OCed. but the GTX260 (192) is at equal clocks in both cases. Same clocks as in my sig.

as you see, not up to 100% but still it is working for an overall greater total.

Do we know the reason for this? I've asked before but never got an answer. Does it have to do with CUDA drivers or F@H coding?
 
its just the way the chipsets are designed.. its the same boat on the ATI side as well when you mix cards with different shader counts..

It's probably an issue with F@H and the core itself rather than a problem with drivers. It could also be related to the CUDA/CAL implementation.
