• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

Is there a way to install the client so that it doesn't show up in the task bar? like so it runs hidden kinda?

When you run the client the first time (console), you have the option to run it as a service.
Otherwise create a shortcut and add -config to the command line. Go through the options and enable the service option.

Ok, I just tried the shortcut thing and added -config to it. When I open it I get the F@H control panel with the 4 tabs (User, Connection, Display, Advanced). Am I doing this right? I don't see anywhere to enable it as a service.

I think you downloaded the wrong version. sounds like you got the graphical client when what you want is the no-nonsense console vs 5. that is the one with the built in service installer.
