so is floppy drive a must have in order to install raid? my bios detected 2 harddrives and I set them as raid0, but when i put in my windows XP, it says no harddisk is found. my only guess is i have to have a floppy drive and make a raid disk and press F6 during setup in order for XP to find the raid drives?

Correct, you will need a floppy disk with your motherboards RAID drivers on it, I believe you can use a USB drive to do it but I would just stick with a floppy since the drivers fill just a floppy disk. Hit F6, let it load the drivers and then you can install XP like normal.

If the drivers are not already on the Xp disk, then, the only reasonable ways to install Xp on a raid array are the F6 + raid drivers on floppy or slipstreaming the drivers into your Xp install disk. You can not use a thumb drive for this under Xp unfortunately.

One of the less reasonable ways: is to install Xp onto a single drive not meant for your raid array, install the raid drivers, then create an array, and then use Driveimage pro 7 to clone the Windows drive onto the array from within Windows. Not an ideal solution but it has worked for me in the past when no floppy drive was available.
