Flat CRT = twisted image?

Hi, newbie here so please excuse my ignorance.

I recently picked up a 17" flat CRT Samsung 700df monitor at Sam's Club. I used it for about a week but then returned it because I noticed a very slight horizontal curve towards the top and bottom of the screen. It wasn't much of a curve, but once I noticed it, it just drove me crazy! So now I'm shopping around for another 17" or maybe even 19" but it seems that all the Flat CRT monitors I've looked at has a curve, or twist, or the edge lines aren't straight. Are all flat CRT monitors like this? The kid at BestBuy said that's just how they are cuz they haven't figured how to get a perfectly straight picture with the flat CRT. Is he right or just feeding me BS?

I had a flat screen Sony 19" trinitron for 4 years, and it was fine.
It had many geometry settings. If the settings were messed up, the picture was distorted. But i assure you that my monitor had enough setttings to make it fine.
Man, i loved that monitor.

Anyway, if your looking for a good CRT for cheap, i recommend you consider one of the 19" CRT's (flat screen). NEC/mitsubishi, IBM, and other companies use make them. Should look for a dot pitch of 0.24 (they are nice) and something with an anti-glare / anti-static coating.
Sadly, the Sony Trinitrons are no longer being made, so the diamondtron is the main one left.

There are a lot out there, and usually can find them for under 250$US.

I had a flat screen Sony 19" trinitron for 4 years, and it was fine.

Man, i loved that monitor.

I'm still using mine and I love it. 19" Sony Trinitron .24dpi. Very nice monitor indeed. And it is sad they don't make them anymore. On occasion I have seen them in stock online new, but not lately. I love sony screens. Only thing I don't like is the footprint of CRT's. Especially big ones.

Most higher end companies should have the settings needed to correct any distortion on screen.

Can any of the higher end models be found in retail stores? Stores in my area are BestBuy, CircuitCity, OfficeMax, Staples, SamsClub, Walmart, I think a CompUSA is about 1/2hr away. Seems like these stores only carry HP, Compaq, Emachines, Samsung, etc.

I was adjusting all the settings on these models but couldn't get a perfectly straight picture.

Not sure why nobody mentioned this but why didn't you just go into the settings on the front of the monitor and adjust the geometry sounds like it was just off that is a pretty easy fix if that is what you were talking about

I tried every adjustment possible. I could get it close, but not perfect. Maybe I'm being too picky, I don't know. My previoous monitor was fine but it wasn't a flat screen.
