I'll be investing in a 300D in the next few days and was planning on getting a flash with it. I've been looking over the 550EX and the 420EX and was wondering if anyone could give me some insight into if the advantages of the 550EX are worth the price if I never plan on using it as a master-slave system. Thanks alot.
 
Well - I've read quite a lot of people was having exposure problem with their 420EX - not sure if it has been fixed or not.
The 550EX - have greater range and a lot more features.

I bought a sigma ef500 super dg to use with my 300D- comparable feature to 550ex with much more affordable price.
