(It's my first post, be nice. =])
Well anyway, I just bought a 2408wfp, and was quite happy with it. Unforunately, there are two small scratches on it. They are about the size of a pixel, so I first thought they were dead pixels until I felt them with my finger and noticed that they were small scratches of sort in the glass. Seems like someone hit it with the tip of a sharp pencil or something.

The scratches are pretty shallow, but they're deep enough to refract the light differently, I think, which is making them look like dead/stuck pixels.

I've tried to do some research on trying to fill them in, and I've read that petroleum jelly might help -- but the results have been pretty mixed. Any other solutions?

Also, I can't return/exchange this as I bought it used. (Fortunately, the seller gave me $35 for the blemishes once I told him about it.)

I think my scratches are too deep for that to work, and wouldn't that remove the matte coating?

To be honest I think you are stuck with the scratches. Don't buff with the toothpaste, just wipe it on and off to fill in the scratch to keep it from reflecting and being so noticable. I've hear resin car polish can also work. I haven't heard of a good solution though.

Brasso will eat away plastic and make it shiny. It might be worse to have that spot on the screen. I've never tested the effects of brasso on an LCD before and I don't have any dead ones at the moment.
