Hey guys I got a question about this -bigadv deal and I know you guys can help. First thing..I fold for another forum but I know you guys are the best when it comes to questions so that's why I'm asking here. :)
I've been running 3 notfred VM's and a gpu client for a while now and it seems to do pretty good but was wondering if the -bigadv would be huge point increase or what? I usually average around 20k a day and about 130 -140k a week point wise on this one box. I used to have over 200 boxes at work but the new admin put a stop to that
I have been using a passkey for the past couple of weeks of now so I know I'm good in that department. I installed the -bigadv VM from the sticky and it's running now. I noticed it was an A1, not sure if that means anything to you. Can I continue to run the other VM's or do I just run this and the GPU client? Here's a some screenies showing how it's running now.

If I'm not going to be able to pull more points I don't see the point but from the FahMon screen it doesn't look to promising to me. Any help you guys can give would be much appreciated. System specs are in the sig in case your wondering. Thanks fellas:D

A1 WUs are sent from time to time but not usually with the -bigadv flag. Did you download the new SMP client v6.29 from Stanford? If not, you won't be receiving -bigadv WUs anymore with the older client version. That would be my initial check. There is a VAST PPD difference between A1 and the -bigadv WUs. You will be seeing close to 30,000 PPD just with the change based on your system specs.

All I did was download the Linux FAH Image v0.7 from the sticky and installed it and went through the steps listed there. Is there something I need to do differently?

Yep, that's the problem. You need the latest version 1.1 which has the updated executable. Download it here: http://folding.braindancer.net/linuxrouter/VMWare-FAH-1.1.7z

Also, forgot to mention regarding the passkey, only A2 SMP WUs count for the 10 mandatory successfully completed WUs to qualify for the bonus. It doesn't matter how long you have folded under your passkey or what other WUs you completed. However, you will still receive -bigadv WUs immediately after all the proper configurations are set. Until the first 10 A2 WUs are completed, you will receive only the base points per -bigadv WU which is still substantial.

Ahh hah!! Now this looks better :) Thanks guys. Anything else I need to know?

Glad you got the issue resolved. The only advice I have is to allocate as much memory to your VM as possible because these units need a ton of memory. Also, I would have recommended to test your OC with a few regular SMP WUs before trying -bigadv, but if you have already folded with this system before or are confident in your OC, then it won't be necessary.

I set it for 6 gigs of ram and I've been folding running 3 VM's simultaneously.

Right now I'm only running the big vm. Didnt think I could do much else the way that puppy is working my system. All 8 cores are maxed out :)

thats the right answer then

Fold on brother!
