First Self Build PC FX57 Overclocking

Hi

I have just build my first PC, I have some questions about overclocking because theres nothing i can see in the bios todo it with, just some program i found on the motherboard CD called AI booster ?

Anyway this is what i have done so far:

I just increased to multiplier in this AI booster program. It now runs about 30/31 deg C idle and not much more under load. BF2 after about 45 mins put it to 36-38.

I've not done any overclocking before so i just wanna check to ask what will happen if i increase the multiplier again ? will it blow up lol ? i really dont want to break this but i have seen quite a big increase in rendering speeds just by this extra 200mhz.

The cooling i have is air, 3 x Delta focus flow fans, 1 rear out take, 1 intake at front, and one mounted on the CPU with a thermalright xp-120 Heatsink. Seems todo a pretty good job considering my last PC ran at 55 - 60 deg idle, albeit a bit loud but i can live with it. Do you think its safe to overclock it more?

To hit 3.2GHz you'll either need sub-zero cooling or a bump in voltage. You're still at 1.4v with the 3ghz right?
 
yes its still default voltage.

damn, dont think i can afford anything to make it subzeo temps at the moment, not after forking out for all of this.

i presume increasing the voltage will increase the CPU temp alot then ? how much would i need to increase it to get it to 3.2 ? or is it just not possible ?
 
Try doing it with 1.45v. If the temps are good now, that bump in voltage shouldn't hurt.

If you can take this thing comfortably to 3.2ghz on air, then it will reaffirm my faith in the FX-57 as being something worthwhile, since I've yet to see it do anything that the FX-55 can't do (until your FX-57, heh.)
 
i'm at work at the moment so i'll give it a go when i get back, so i just need to increase the voltage to 1.45 and then put the multiplier to 16 right ? what will happen if it doesnt work ? it wont kill it will it ? i am having to use this weird program todo it AI booster, if it doesnt work how will i change it back ? or will the program prevent me from doing it if it cant handle it ?
 
if it cant handle it, then u will see stability programs like random reboots, freezes, etc....u can also make adjustments for overclockin in the BIOS (hit del or f2 during start up) and itll take u to a bios screen where u can navigate through to find certain settings...do some readin on overclockin before so u dont do anything u dont know how to fix ;)
