First NV40 3D Mark Score???

I suppose so.

Who cares which is better??? We won't know until they are both released so speculating is pointless. What we can do is drool over how truly awesome these next gen cards will be... I can't wait to benchmark either one I get with Quake III to see what kind of stupid high fps I can get.

Who cares if it gets 500000 3Dwanks:rolleyes: We should all know by now that these benchmarks are just full of BS driver optimizations from BOTH sides;)
I want a card that will run PS2 which will be %90 of current games coming out for the near future.I want great IQ and if a card can produce that then i am quite happy.
;) Continue with your fanboy war's:D

Even if this is PURE sarcasm in your post It still slightly miffed me to read it. Obviously you want something with great PS2 performance and awsome IQ.....that's what EVERYONE wants. If you don't truely understand WHY us benchmark whores are the way we are then please don't say anything. Insulting things you don't understand gets you nowhere.

What exactly is he insulting?

I fully agree with trapine. All this petty arguing about cards that aren't even available to the public yet is quite stupid.

And what's not to understand? Wow my card just hit 30000 3DMarks I see my performance I'll try to push it a little bit more oh 30001 marks yay.

::sit::

uhh.
BECAUSE THERE ARE NO PS3.0 CARDS OUT!
Because the game wasn't written for it at all, just recompiled with a PS3.0 supporting compiler. Since the majority of shaders in the game are still PS1.1 shaders and PS3.0 adds flow control and branching which can't possibly be taken advantage of to any extent by the recompilation of a handful of shaders which don't require the additional length requirements supported, this means....oh never mind.

I really don't understand why people are constantly making fun of and moking benchmarkers like myself. I'm not going to get into all the differents sides of it and reasons but there is validity (word?) to it.....no matter what some people say.

As do I, on that topic.

???

Are you suggesting that Futuremark scores have no correlation with real-world performance?

Systems with current generation ATi hardware generally score higher in both benchmarks than those equipped with comparable Nvidia hardware, while simultaneously delivering better image quality. It's not a fluke that actual in-game performance mirrors this 90% of the time.

You better believe that it matters that a stock NV40 can double (!) the 9800XT's score in the PS2.0-heavy, videocard-dependant 3DMark 03 benchmark.

The only reason this 3dmark score is such a hot topic is because we got nothing else (at least until tomorrow). Seeing a score double of current generation cards is impressive none the less, but in the end, it's the game benchmarks I am eager to see.

Exactly, both of them have got me bouncing up and down in my chair.

You do realise that I'm gonna be sitting on Nvidia's site refreshing it all day don't you? Just waiting for the video stream to be available. ;)

i pity hardocp. How could anything get done if they have the new cards. I would be playing every single game on max, it would take months.

all this talk of new video cards is making me antsy...

i'm gonna go game and love on my current card before i for whatever reason think it's not good enough :(

These first cards are a waste of money. Nvidia and ATI will come out with better and better versions so their is no point spending you money on one of the first ones. Its like like buying a Nvidia 5200 when you know 5950 will come out.

While you are partially right, you're using far to much of an overexageration here.

Even though i can't say how much difference there WILL be between say, the X800Pro and the X800XT.....I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a whole lot.

However, the part of your statement that is COMPLETELY off is the part where you say that the first cards are a waste of money.....they're far from it. Just because something else is going to be coming out in another little while with higher clock speeds (or whatever) doesn't mean that what you just bought 1 week before is suddenly complete shit. There are going to be different people in different situations that are gonna end up purchasing one of the initial offerings from the next gen table.....but they're still gonna be kick ass cards that are gonna be amazing things to own.

You're being more then just a little bit general here and kind of closed minded when you're saying that they're gonna suck ass.....especially if you reasoning is because there's something new coming.

By that logic, a 3.2EE a month or two ago would have been a POS, just because the 3.4EE is coming. There's ALWAYS new technology on the way, and you've gotta buy something sooner or later.....you can't just keep waiting. If someone has been holding onto their GF2 all this time, I really don't think they're gonna give a shit if something else comes out in another month that's a LITTLE better.

Honestly dude..........
