Got tired of my plain beige case, so I revved up the power tools and got busy on my first mod

Mirror paint job
Blowhole
Window with fan
Handles
Rounded cables (roll your own)
Stealth cd and floppy
CCFL

Besides making my case look nice, my temps dropped 10 degrees C. Pics are
here. Looking at some of the great mods here, this seems modest, but I think it turned out quite well

I wrote a short tutorial on the floppy stealth mod

the paint looks FLAWLESS. great first mod. makes me want to mod something :)


compslckr grabs his handy dremel and jig saw and runs off to the garage to look for something to hack up :)

My first mod, yes. I've built a few systems before, but it's always been stock standard. Thanks for the encouraging comments.

I had some trouble with the paint finish, though. I rubbed through the clear coat in a few places, left a few areas darker than the rest of the case. I could have put another coat, but I ran out of laquer and patience. The whole mod took ten days and I wanted my computer back
 
Hmmm, stealth floppy. ;) I wonder where I saw this before. :p

:D Nice case, love the paintjob!!! What about painting the beige area left on the front bezel, something like silver/chrome, it'd be damn neat.

It doesn't show so well in the pics, but the front bezel, power button and part of the side handle are all painted silver

BTW, is my floppy stealth method documented elsewhere? If so, send the link. That was my idea - where's my lawyer at? :p
 
Very nice. However I would be careful about using homemade rounded cables(or any rounded cables heh). Maybe it's just a matter of poor workmanship but I had problems with errors/data corruption with my self-made rounded cables.

Oops, sure looked like white/beige. Sorry! ;)

Here's my stealthed floppy tutorial. :) I actually thought mine was unique by the time I did this, but I found out weeks after that another tutorials existed... though not exactly the same type of door was used there. :/ lol Anyways, I love your "hot" nail idea to make it's own perforation, mind if I mention it in my own tutorial, as a Dremel alternative?
