First mod job

hey guys im a little new to modding, and i want to start my first project. i want to put an LCD screen on the side of a midtower case. so its like a computer and LCD in one! its a little wierd idea i know, but i want to do this and i have some quick questions for all you pros. but heres where i am right now just so you know:

here is my spare 15" LCD. i unscrewed and removed the platform and stand so its just the actual LCD

this is the spare midtower i have (this pic is the plain side, the other side has a nice window and 80mm blue LED fan in the middle). i dont know which side to mount it on, or how exactly im gonna do it, but i would like it to be flush and blend into it if that makes sense.

this is the power adapter. this is good because i should be able to power the LCD from the power supply. this shouldnt suck up too much watts.

rear cover put back on and a 80mm fan screwed onto the back (even though the rear cover probably will be taken off because of lack of space to work with).

what i need to know is:

1. does anyone have any suggestions how to mount the LCD onto the side of the midtower (i was thinking on the window side remove the window and cut a square the size of the LCD and insert it there).

2. what would i use to paint these? the LCD cover is plastic and the case is steel... i think... so wouldnt they use different kinds of paint?

3. any suggestions what i can add in besides this idea? if you guys do let me know im all up for suggestions right about now.

try epoxying some bolts into those 4 "holes" around the edge and bolting it on (held to the panel with nuts that you thread onto the bolts )

I read an article in Maximum pc (Ithink) that showed how to do this. Cool mod if you can do it. They even put hinges in the side panel so it could swin open and he had a "kickstand" on the edge of the side panel. Way cool.

I removed the plastic from my lcd before I mounted it. I also extended the cables between different pcbs for the internals so I could mount the pcbs in different locations. By doing that it allowed me to mount the lcd to the back of my motherboard tray, so when I open the left side panel it doesn't interfere at all! I used some very very strong 3m velcro to stick the lcd to the back of the motherboard tray. Then I placed a piece of lexan over the screen to protect it even more.

Since all of the pcbs were removed from their orignal mounts I ran a grounding wire to all of the places where the pcbs were grounded to the lcd chassis previosly. It worked without grounding them, but I figured just to be safe I'd ground them all.

The most diffucult part of the whole thing was a small ribbon cable that goes inside the back of the lcd. The smallest amount of force and it will dislodge it enough that the colors on the screen change. I just made sure when I mounted it that under normal circumstances the ribbon cable won't be able to move around at all. Here are a few pics of what it looks like in my Lian Li PC-75B:

I would make a Plexiglas cover for the side of your case.

Than i would mount the LCD behind it.

On the BACK of the plexiglass I would paint it black (except for the part where the screen shows through)
