first lcd buying myself

hello. iam kinda new to buying lcd's.been using a old 21' ctx monitor.had a acer p215h was a gift that died,been getting a horrible time with customer service.so decide just to get a new one.
most used for movies,web,gaming(star craft 2,action rpgs,some fps)
have a xfx 6850 black edition 1gb

was running at 1080p.

not really sure if should go for a 21-24' monitor been looking a asus.

but also found a insignia 24'/led/1080p/60hz hdtv on sale 179.99.

seems around price looking to spend at moment.do have a 5+yr old hdtv(giant back ones)starting get funny lines at top

The Asus VH238H is a good value in that price range. Terrible speakers, however, just like all of those cheaper monitors. I bought my dad that Insignia you mentioned. It's fine, and has better speakers, but I wouldn't want it as a gaming/pc monitor.
