Firefox always deletes cookies when closed

I'm just wondering if anyone knows how to deal with this - Firefox always deletes all of my cookies every time I close the program, no matter what the cookies settings are. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it. It remembers usernames and passwords; I would prefer it kept cookies until they expired. Firefox 3.5.7, Windows XP Pro

In options, under privacy tab uncheck "Clear history when firefox closes" or go into settings from there and uncheck cookies.

Hmm I didn't read all of your post, I guess you probably have tried this already.

Actually, I didn't see that. Not the most intuitive choice on Firefox's part but I feel dumb nonetheless. Thank you.
