Well I don't know if I told you all this, but I finished my first sff pc. The bad news is my old computer had to die in the process. The motherboard was extremely slow to post on the old pc and the video card had went. Fortunately, I RMA'd the video card back to ATi and received it today.

Anyway here's the specs (keep in mind this isn't really a total rehaul):

SOLTEK K8M800I-RL ($40)
Clawhammer 3200+
1 GB Kingston Ram
X850XT AGP
20 GB HDD
80GB HDD
Lite-On DVD -/+ RW
Aspire Qpack Black no Window ($70)
AS5 Thermal Paste ($6)

There's a few more things I'd like to do. They are as follows:

A) Get a soundcard, onboard doesn't support 5.1
B) Card cooler for the video card
C) Upgrade to 2 GB of ram

Now excuse me but I must get my CS on before I die.

NICE. i always liked that Soltek motherboard, it came out RIGHT after i moved to a 939 matx setup. I hear it has some good overclocking options, care to do a little testing? :D
 
I tell you what about the ocing, the very next thing I buy as far as my PC is concerned is going to be some good ram. I soon as I do that, I would be more than happy to test this board out.

I actually looked at the unofficial good mobo list and was a little hesitant to buy it, the last via chipset that i used was a POS, but I decided I couldn't invest 100 on a mobo like Id done the previous two times, Abit AN7 and an Epox 8kda3j respectively.

Im not sure it has an AGP/PCI lock though. Also, I hope it doesn't make a difference, but the heatsink barely fit on the motherboard. This is because the capacitors are so close.

Edit: Should the 120mm on this be an intake or an outtake fan?
 
Yeah. The K8M800 does NOT have PCI/AGP locks, so you wont be doing any insane Ocing, but a moderate OC should do well. Even if you have value RAM you can always use a 3:2 divider instead of a 1:1 and OC from there, maybe youll have good luck doing that.

as for the fan, ide do exhaust.
 
you have one of those old timey swiftech hs/f that look like they were made out of a bunch of screws. how is that working for you?
 
I won't call it "old timey" its about as old timey as the processor I guess. I bought it from somebody on here to. It's always worked well in any computer I've had. Its probably the best aftermarket heatsink I've ever used.
 
prolly a good thing you dont have a window that psu has an ass load of connectors.
