Okay so I had to work all day today and had no time for anything else.I've been wanting a new video card for a LONG time. I called a computer shop downtown and they told me they finally had the evga 6800 128mb in. So I called home to see if anyone could go downtown and buy it for me. Sure enough my sister was heading down so I asked her to pick it up for me. I made it pretty clear exactly what I wanted : eVga 6800 128mb. I got bored at work around 6:30 and decided to call my sister and ask her if she picked it yet. And she did :D ...only problem was is apparently the last evga was sold out in between the time I called and when she picked it up and I ended up with a leadtek.:( Oh well I'm still impressed with this card :D it didnt come with farcry :( but I got prince of persia, pandora tomorrow and gunmetal so I'm pretty excited. I just ran the video stress test with the CS:S beta with 6xaa and 4xaf...ran at about 85fps...my old fx5600 could only pull of 37 with much lower settings! BRING ON HL2 BABY!!!

try running the cs:s VST at 4xAA/4xAF. using 6xAA doesn't really work well, it ends up running faster and with a lower AA intensity.

okay i ran it with 4xaa and my fps went down to 73 from 85 with 6xaa....i dont really know anything about this aa stuff but isnt 6 supposed to be better then 4?

Yep, leadtek's have faster mem, overclock like beasts. 390/950 here no problem.

I would say you got lucky that she picked up a leadtek instead of an eVGA

6xaa isn't supported, therefore the game runs with 0xaa.

Apparently you've never owned an Nvidia card or if you have you've forgotten your legacy driver settings. 6xAA and 8xAA [not 8xS] have been supported by Nvidia for years. I remember giving those options a whirl on my 64mb GF2MX440. Thing is Nvidia's current 4xAA provides better aliasing than their legacy 6xAA and 8xAA, that's why you'll see a performence drop when moving from 6x/8x to 4x. However, you're quite mistaken when you say it defaults to 0xAA. If you run the VST at 0xAA you'll get higher frames than when you run it with 6x/8x. That alone [plus your eyes] should be enough to tell you that some form of AA is happening.
