Been mulling over this for a year now. Since I just built a new system, I decided it was time.

Ordered myself a Schiit Stack, consisting of the V2 Uber models of the Modi and Magni.

I considered their new all in one unit, the Jotunheim, but I feel the Schiit Stack is a bit more flexible.

Look forward to it. Didn't even install the sound card in the new system.

Using my Line 6 Amplifi-tt's built in DAC for now (which is no slouch).

I have the same setup. I think you will be pleased. I also have a bifrost multibit and an Asgard 2. Still trying to decide if I can truly tell a difference with the headphones I have.

Reading the OP's post, I dunno but a Schiit Stack just doesnt sound right :)

Although funning aside, I have heard Schiit's stuff is decent.

I got myself a chord mojo about a month ago and am just waiting for the network addon module poly to be released which should be anytime now.

Also thinking about getting a desktop dac, unsure atm which type and how much i am willing to spend, it will have to wait til april, but I do need new headphones but I have no idea asto which ones to get :(

Good stuff. I happily own the Gungir and Mjolnir 2. Had the Jotunheim been available I probably would have bought it to save on money to be honest. Can't go wrong with any of Schiit's stuff really. Just had a friend buy the 100$ Fulla 2 Dac/Amp and he loves it for his Sennheiser 598s.

I am quite surprised that Schiit priced the magni and the modi at an affordable price point considering their performance. I am pretty sure that you will love your purchase as I did.:)

I even paid the $24 for their interconnect cable :) Now I have a string of schiit to connect my stack of schiit together :)

Yeah you'll be so happy with the combo.

I passed mine on to my father - it kills me that he hasn't used it. He'd be blown away with the audio quality!

Ok, got the Shiit Stack in and frankly, I can't see why anyone would need anything more expensive than this. Dayum this Schiit sounds good :)

My system passes the Star Tracks Track 3 test. NO breakup whatsoever on the kettle drums (or whatever they are). That is quite an accomplishment. I've seen that track break up the best of amps and subs, even at low volume.

I'm happy !

What is track 3? You are talking about Erich Kunzel & Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, right? I have a horror movie themed one and I also have Boston Pops Summon the Heroes. Both are great for testing audio, lots of dynamics.

Yessir.

It doesn't do the CD justice, but.... if yer shit is weak you still want to stay far far away from this :)

I set an NAD amp on fire with this once LOL

Just by playing it once or numerous times?

Just played that and I passed with flying colors. Good for testing my sub setting.

Cambridge CXA80 amp
Energy Veritas RCMini speakers
Totem Storm sub

I have new bookshelf speakers coming next week (ATC) rated to handle 300w.

That sounded like a good rip so doubt you could tell dif between the CD and it. I know I couldn't.

Ooh, no. I abused it for hours :) It was playing this CD that finally transformed it into a dragon.

The Polk SDA-2's I had at the time were notoriously hard on NAD amps as well.

OK I won't do that then. The speakers I have coming are not very efficient either and need a good amp to drive them. Not sure if mine is up to the task but will find out.

I took delivery of my Schiit Stack today as well (V2 Uber pair), they're doing *work* right now for my two main (err, only) cans.

If you have super low sensitivity headphones, I can see a need to move up to Schiit Jotunheim or Oppo HA-1 for the extra power through balanced interconnects. I'm thinking along the line of hard to drive planars, most notably modded HE-6, HEK, or upcoming Edition 6/Susvara.

headphone sound quality doesn't get significatnly better than what you have, just different
