Got angry just sitting and waiting, and looking, went out into Hong Kong computer market and got it!

With my old AudigySE, Mator 40GB+60GB, and Samsung DVD writter.

Running idle at 44oc CPU and 35oc mb. (its 15oc room temp). Ran Prime 95 for 12hours and temps to 55oc CPU and 40 MB.

planning to mod the right side to put a Zalman slim fan. hope to allow it to run when room temps are high, but i dont know what CPU HS to put into it. I have heard that the Zalman 7000 is good, but would it fit my mobo?

also, is my modding be enough? Would i need to have 1HDD?

Yes the heatsink you talked about earlier will fit, tight but it will fit.

You will see improved air flow if you drill out the side for a larger fan. Those slim Zalmans work out great for this case

I was wondering about the last part of your thread, about having 1 HDD? You are going to need at least one, but remember you can two more if like.

where should i place the fan, directly at the cpu, or near the front panel abit? cos there is only one chance when i do this, so i want to be fully sure!

No problem. My fan is placed about 1 1/2" from the front and an 1" off the bottom of the case. But I did put another hole directly across from this one on the other side. I did this so the air would pass by the front edge of the video card and not run inot it. My air flow runs right to left.

If you decide to just put one hole in the right side I would put it as close as to the heatsink of the cpu as possible. Check to make sure that the air coming off the fan won't be running right into the side of the power supply move it forward a bit if it does.

thanks mate, how did u drill? what equipments? cos the side panels seems abit thick! i just wanna be totally sure what i am doing otherwise i would loss $100! lol

I used a drill press at work. With a big hole bit , sorta like to make a door knob opening.

Just make sure you have it secured when you start to drill. When the bit hits the soft sound damping material it will "bite" the material. Be CAREFUL if you decide to use just a hand drill. Hold firm!! It will want take off.
 
I'll second Bigshot's recommendation of securing the panel. It will bite when you hit the sound dampening material wedged in the middle of the case panel. Use a pair of bench clamps and hold it in place and make sure to take your time.

dam it, the fan wouldnt fit, i will have to remove my audigy cos i have two hdd and they are parallel, ahahah, i cant afford another SATA HDD!
 
I think the Aria is a great SFF computer, I have one myself - Aria and has been working flawlessly (Knocking on Wood as I'm typing this :D ) over 3 months and records TV programs in pretty good quality.
 
If you have two hard disks, then why not move the second disk to the right side of the case (Non graphic's card side)? This will allow the fan to fit unless you cut the hole for the fan too far back from the rounded edge of the case panel.

Right its all sorted out now!

I have drilled a hole just where the cpu is, then place a fan on top of the CPUwhich draws air onto the CPU heatsink.

I have removed the Audigy DE, and replaced it with a low profile Audigy 2 Value, and have sorted out all cable managements. Now this Aria is running 43oc CPU, 35oc MB idle, and 54ocCPU and 40oc MB after 10hours of prime 95. Hence the room temp is only 15oc.
But the temps seems ok to me.

My last concerns are noise and dust, as when the Stock intel heatsink runs at 4000rpm, its fxxxxxg loud, also i will have the place a dust filter on the hole to ensure my aria doesnt become a vacuum cleaner! lol :D

is there a suitable, not too large heatsink for my system?

For a heatsink I would go with the Zalman CNPS7000B as it does fit your mobo and just barely fits in the Aria. Definately quiter than the stock HSF and you can expect better temps.

I was picking apart the reviews of this case at spcr and techreport. The intake grille for the psu looks pitiful. I would put a new one in the psu case to allow that big 120 fan to do its stuff. If you can position it properly, it can take heat straight off the cpu HSF.

A blowhole next to the cpu would finish the job. A second for the gpu and you're golden.
 
My personal thoughts on the Aria are that it's a nice little case, something that fits perfectly on my desktop and works nicely. But as everyone else has mentioned, airflow is an issue. I'm definitely going to cut 2 holes in the side panels for air flow. I'm watercooling the cpu and gpu, and you would think this would be enough, but the crappy airflow causes my ram and my video card memory to get hot and make my system unstable. I'm not even overclocking the system, it's all stock. If I prop a fan up with the side panel off and blowing on the ram, the ram stays cool, but if I leave the side panel off with no fan blowing my ram still gets too hot and causes BSOD and reboots.
