My computer has been exhibiting some strange behavior for some time now when double-clicking or right-clicking on common file types. I'm trying to find the cause.
For example, if I double-click on a text file or a video file, it takes 10 seconds for the OS to either run the application associated with the file or to bring up the context menu. It should be instantaneous. It only happens initially. Trying to repeat the test results in everything being fine until the application is closed and a minute or two passes.
I'm not seeing any CPU spikes or jumps in memory usage. The behavior is only shown by the file manager and not by any other app.
It's bugging me to no end. Any suggestions on how to correct or where to start looking?
