I did a few mods to my Cooler Master Praetorian. Below is a pic of the case in stock form:

First, I replaced the front intake grill with a less restrictive material.

Instead of hacking up the side panel, I picked up a piece of lexan, had it cut the right size, then masked off a "window" section and painted the backside of the lexan black. I think it turned out pretty nice, although a bit too glossy.

I drilled two small holes in each top corner of the lexan and also in the case. Then, I used a somewhat long screw, inserted it from the inside of the case, so it sticks out. Put the panel in place and use a nut to tighten it all together.
 
Looks great dude. I just bought a black Praetorian and i really like it. I got one of the CM side panels with a green tinted window though.

The only thing i dont like about the case is that the mobo tray is a tight fit and every time i pull it out the top of the stupid thing rubs against a corner on the rear side panel and has chipped off a little place. You can't really see it unless your looking for it but i know its there! lol
 
i personally wouldve done a fancier design for the window but looks great anyways! gives me some ideas :D
 
It looks great but 1 thing. In the front where you put that mesh you can see some grey metal behind it. I suggest you paint that to match the rest of the case. Just my idea.

burningrave101, you say that you have a side panel for it... i was told that all of the side panels were glossy and wouldnt match the rest of the flat black case. is yours glossy or flat black?

when i did the painting, i anticipated that it would turn out like crap. i might get another sheet and spice things up with the window design.

i would be all for painting the inside of the case too, but then i would have to remove everything (plus my 3-4 hour wiring job). the only way id want to remove it is if i could get the interior anodized black :cool:

It is glossy because its meant to fit the black Wavemaster but you really dont notice it much. I think it looks great.

BTW, do you have any trouble with nicking the side panels when you pull out the motherboard tray?
 
nah, I have no problems with the tray, granted, I rarely take it out.

I think im going to keep the grill, just in case I wanna revert the case back to stock. :cool:
 
hey are you running an xp120 on that bad boy? I was thinking of running that exact same cooler, and fan on my next project, how do you like it?
 
I am running the XP90, the little brother of the 120. It works great for me, I love it. I have a low powered fan on it and still get good temps.
 
What kind of paint could i use if i wanted to just touch up that little corner on the lip of the side panel?
 
i would guess just some flat black automotive touchup paint, but i have no idea really.
 
Hey, that's awesome! I noticed how clean the inside of your case appears to be. Ay least what I can see through the window...We need pics to do justice to the 3-4 hour wiring job you mentioned.

What's involved? Trimming wires to remove the slack?

That's a nice case, but I think it needs at least a 120mm fan in the back.

And, burning, try a Sharpie permanent marker... I haven't seen the CM in person, but the drive bay covers look like brushed aluminum with Sharpie. Try it, it can't hurt.
 
GJ, I have big plans for my Praetorian, but I dont know how to start >< I think I would start by taking off the top panel, but I have no idea how to do that. Im meant to use a rivet gun but I dont know what that is either :)
I should be cutting my window as soon as I find some god damn perspex where I live.
Im also thinking of painting it metallic blue :)

Damn Nice. That is pure class...

I am curious about all the geek info on the fans and power supply. I've never seen a Metal fan like that on the Thermalright...

And that powersupply - it has no freakin' walls? + Did you sleeve all the 4-pin connectors together, or is that just how it comes from the factory??
 
few updates since last post. added two 80mm UV reactive purple fans to the front:

also added dual UV cathodes to help brighten things up. finally, i added the "knightmare" to the window and did a simple UV fan mod

wow.. what paint did you use for the plexi and how did you make the clean "window" view? Did you just place a rectangular cardboard and paint over it?

exactly. i placed a piece of paper on the back side of the plexi, sprayed all around with some flat black paint, and when it dried, the opposite side (outside) was very glossy.

the "knightmare" lettering was done in the same manner.... printed out the text, cut an outline of it with an exacto knife, then placed it over the window and spray painted it on.
