I've got a 750watt Thermaltake Toughpower XT that I'm in the middle of resleeving (individual wire sleeve) and I noticed the 8-pin and 6-pin PCIe power cables have ferrites on the VGA end.

Are these really necessary? They're the only cables using them. I can easily re-used them, but I'd like to remove them completely.

supposedly these are supposed to remove the squeal of video cards, if they actually do idk.

They aren't necessary, but it's possible that they are helping to reduce coil whine as osrk suggested, so remove them at your own risk. If I were you, I would leave the cables unsleeved temporarily and test them without the ferrite beads to see if it causes any coil whine. If not, then you should be able to leave them off permanently.
