Ok, so I ordered a EVGA 6600gt PCI-E from newegg.com. Now, 10 days later, I was playing BF2, and the game froze. I restarted my pc and I got back into BF2 and now there is horrible pixelation in BF2. And I am not talking small pixels, huge distorted ones. So I load up Sims 2, same thing. So the card was defective. So I am returning the card for a full refund. To be honest, I purchased my pc with a Radeon X300 video card already installed, and for what that card was, I think it was great. I was very impressed with it.

So now here is the big question, I am looking at newegg and seeing what i can replace this with. And I want a performance boost. How does the X800 Pro compare to the 6600gt? Or the 6800 compared to the X800 Pro? Its about 80 dollars more to go with the X800 Pro than the 6600gt. I will not exceed a $300 card, so what are my best choices. I can play BF2 on medium settings, with view distance on 100% and shadows off and get about 40-50 FPS and a little stutter when riding in vehicles on my 6600gt, which one would run BF2 on high settings with no lag? I have had previous experience with nvidia (and it may be bad luck), but I just have not been impressed. Thanks for any help, ideas, or suggestions :confused: . Take care fellas...

PS: What does refurbished mean on newegg?
 
An X800Pro would be faster then a 6600GT. The X800Pro would be marginally faster then the 6800nu. I havn't played BF2 so i can't tell you what card you would need to run it at high settings.

Refurbished means the card was bought and returned to Newegg and its being sold again at a reduced price because there wasn't obviously much wrong with it.
 
Since you are on PCIe get yourself a X800XL, faster than the X800Pro and slightly faster than a 6800GT, though both of those cards trade back and forth often. The X800XL is pretty cheap on the PCIe interface though, you can most likely find one around $250, which is a great deal and probaby the best one out there right now for graphics cards.
