I got my E6600 to 3.4ghz stable on 1.45v. Multiplier is at 8 and FSB is at 425 at 4-5-5-15. I was wondering if 70C load with 2 prime95 running is high for my cpu. Chipset got as hot as 48C. Is that also too hot? Any suggestions on how I can improve my settings will be appreciated. BTW the cpu temp on this board is different from the temp I got from my old ECS board. At 1.275v I use to idle 25C and load at 40C on the ECS board. On the Gigabyte at 1.275v I idle at 32C and load at 50C. Is the Gigabyte sensor more accurate than the ECS?

70c is pretty hot. At idle that would leave your pc in and around 55c-60c which is not recommended if you want to keep your cpu for a long time.

Chipsets get pretty hot during a prime and 48c is high but not uncommon for a stock cooler. again i would not keep the oc without expecting a diminished lifetime of your board.

A lot of people wonder why their boards don't OC well after a year or two of use, and usually this is the culprit.. inadequate cooling, high temperatures for a very long time.

For air cooling, my suggestion is find your highest stable OC (prime for 24 hours or more) and then from there go about 200-300 mhz lower.

My idle for that OC was under 50C. Around 45-48C. I did lowered it to 3.325ghz on 7x475 at 1.4v and the temps have dropped. The highest temp on prime overnight was 63C. I think I misread the chipset temp earlier because the highest it got overnight was 42C and I kept the voltage on it the same. I might try to push it a little more at the same voltage. BTW I think I lucked out with the ram because it's running at 475mhz with 4-4-4-12 timing on 2.0v. Still haven't ran memtest yet so I'm hoping it will hold up once I do.

Is the Rated FSB on cpuz suppose to be that high?

50C idle is really hot for a C2D. If you want to keep your CPU for a long time, try to make sure that the load temp is less than 60C.

The rated FSB is always four times higher than the real FSB (on Intel CPUs). If you're worried about your memories, just try higher timings. You wont lose much performance, Intel CPUs aren't that sensitive when it comes to timings.

I can't seem to run my FSB at 500mhz. It will run fine at 7x475 but won't run 6x500. That's with me setting the ram timing to 5-7-7-24 and rasing the ram voltage to 2.2v. Is it because of my ram could it be my mobo?

It could be your mobo, try increasing the north bridge voltage :)
(do it carefully, though)

I tried raising it as high as 0.2v but it still will not post at 500mhz. I've even raised the FBS voltage by 0.2v as well and it still won't post.

I'll work on that some more later if anyone has any other suggestions. In the mean time I've lowered my cpu voltage down to 1.3v and running prime right now. Idle temps are now beblow 35C and highest load temp so far is at 56C. I'm using the HWMonitor from cpuid since it shows all of my system temps and the cpu core temps are pretty much the same as CoreTemp .96 (it can be off by 1-2C at times). I'll be happy if my system is stable at 3.325ghz @ 1.3v.

EDIT: It was unstable at 1.3v so I changed it to 1.325v and prime is running fine for over an hour now. I think I'm going to keep it at 7x475 since the fsb doesn't seem to want to run any higher no matter what I do with the ram voltage and timing. Do you guys think 3.325ghz is a good OC for my processor? I ran it over a year at stock speed because ECS mobo that came with the cpu wouldn't let me OC it.

3.325 is fairly decent. It's not the highest, but it's reasonable. if you look at the database some go as high as 4.0 on the E6600.....on air though.....

Is this a good score for a 8600GT? Seems so high to me since I'm switch from a 9700pro.

I can't believe that my CPU is the bottleneck of my system now.
