Faulty DDR Ram

Ok dokey... Boiught a brand new Mesh desktop, Athlon 3500+, 6800GT, 250gb hd, 2x512mb ddr ram - MemTest reports that one of them doesnt work. What kind of errors is this going to bring? I picked up on it because my Nebula TV card (slotted in a PCI slot) runs through this memory on a cycle and kept crashing. Also in some games, I cant get the high video settings where as my specs suggest I should be able to get high graphics on all games. (Far cry im on medium/high, i want ultra high!) Is this because of the failing Ram. also any ideas how this could have happened? Ive tried taking themout and puttin them back in again but to no avail. I guess i should swop them around and see if its them or the motherboard. Mesh tech support arent that great by the way. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, as this is my first desktop (last "machine" was a ps2) and im not the happiest of chappys. :(
