how hot do these drives run, my friend has the raptor 36GB but its watercooled. do i need any additional cooling. my case temp is usally average about 80F

i suggest cooling any hard drive. most cases have a fan that moves air across them. generally this is sufficient.

yah i have to fans that blow over my hardrives, they only blow at about 2200rpms though.

k what do u think i should do. my other maxtor hardrive that i had RAID on broke. so now im just using the single maxtor right now. so do u think i should buy another maxtor to replace it and do RAID 0 again. or keep the maxtor as a storage. and buy one raptor 10k 74GB, that would be not raided.

the 74GB raptor flies...but it's expensive.212.50 as of now.
the 80GB Maxtor in RAID would be a cheaper option, but as you know if a drive crashes say bye bye to your data.
