I'm building a new system soon and plan to get a dvd-r drive but would like another 2-3 cd/dvd drives simply for running my favorite games without having to use only one optical drive and keeping swapping cds all the time and would like your recommendations. Thanks!

I don't believe that works, to be honest. Usually when you install a game, it expects each CD to be in the same drive when needed. I am going to recommend my fix, because I personally don't believe it is illegal, if you own the real game. Download the No-CD fix for each game you install, then you don't need to drag out the discs, once it's installed.

You can always mount a game image and don't need another drive. Use Daemon Tools to mount your images.

IMHO, stop being lazy, it doesn't take much time/effort to open the cd-drive and take the CD out, and put another one in.

But if you dont want to do that, djnes has a great idea with the no-cd crack, which I too believe isn't illegal if you own the real game.

hrrrm if i mount the images to the WD 74GB Raptor HDD, would games actually load faster than if I were to run it off the cd?

yeah..
lol
alot faster.
instant access and 10x faster read speeds..
all my games use the no-cd except the online one (ut2004) and i just copied the cd (so it wouldnt get damaged) and i just leave it in my cd drive all the time... lol
