just upgraded from a 9800pro to an x850pro AGP. I unistalled the drivers for 9800pro(5.12) and reistalled from the cd that came with the x850.

i then tested it with doom3 and FEAR and farcry. then I uninstalled those and installed 5.12 ans tested it with fear and doom3. its been fine with those with a nice little bump in fps.

I went to farcry and went to autodetect my setting and it put everything on low. no aa, bilinear.. just everything low. I set the settings to very high and started playing it and had a bad problem with bits of scenery and characters clipping in and out. the frames are fine. does anyone know what might be causing this? thanks!

You may be running into driver conflicts. There is a great guide on this forum on how to effectively clean old drivers. Follow it and install the latest drivers.

Use drivercleaner3 to get rid of all the ATI stuff. Then use 5.13 (and if you dont want .NET and CCC use the 5.12 normal control panel instead of 5.13's CCC).

Works flawlessly and got a nice speed bump with 5.13 cats.

Failure to detect proper settings is usually a sign that proper game patchng was not done. It should go from 1.3-1.32-1.33. I also went from 9700P to X850XT PE and it was amazing. Far Cry @ 1280x960 4X 8X with very good FPS and no hitching at all. I do use ATI tool to control fan speed to keep temps down though.

Yeah, FarCry does that weird Autodetect thing with me too on my X850XT PE - puts everything on low, with a resolution of 1024x768. If I actually DO run it like that, I get a crazy 200FPS or something... so I of course set it on 1280x960, completely maxed out settings. Runs at 100FPS. :D

I play it at 1920x1200  all settings maxed except 0 AA. I do think the 5.13 cats helped.
