Far Cry's HDR

I've got it working, with a stable 25+ FPS on most of the time at 1280x1024.

To get this semi-stable with a 6800NU, I had to unlock the pipelines and overclock it to 400/800. My CPU is also overclocked from 1.8ghz, to 2.3ghz, it's sempron, and I'm using really low quality RAM and a 133 divider which really really high memory timings.

Anyway, all the GPU overclocking sometimes causes artifacts in games, which I don't really mind as long as they don't show up a lot. In Far Cry, they don't, so I don't have a lot of problems. Every time I get a lot of artifacts, and have HDR enabled my screen goes black, and I can still move around Far Cry, and hear my sounds, but it just stops rendering any graphics, except for HUD.

I've got to the point where I need to kill a commander and get his key card to open a locked weapons cache thing, to get a bomb, to blow up the communications tower. In the room where the commander is, I get a LOT of artifacts, and I havn't really been able to get rid of them, without my card totally at stock speeds.

Anyway, I was wondering if there is any way to play with HDR on when you're seeing artifacts. I've read up on how HDR works a little, and it seems that HDR just doesn't like artifacts that much.

Obviously I could just turn off HDR to get past this point, but I'm wondering if I'll have to use this workaround every time this happens.

I've tried this, and I can't get into the area without getting artifacts.

Lock the pipes back up, lower the overclock and drop the resolution to 11x8 or 10x7? I find Far Cry with HDR too choppy at 12x10 on a 6800Ultra, let alone a non-Ultra.

Also, you DEFINITELY have anti aliasing turned off? It caused all sorts of visual problems when I accidently turned it on with HDR before.
