Far Cry not loading

Sup everyone,

I'd like to use my nice new x1950xt card no play some far cry, atleast w/ HDR enabled.

Well, everytime I try to to load it from the desktop it freezes IF lighting is set to very high. Any other setting can be at any level; the only thing that makes it freeze when loading up is the lighting set to very high.

I've tried the newest drivers 7.1 cat, plus the drivers that came with my card cat 6.10... No effect.

I've also tried all the patches 1.3, 1.31, 1.33, 1.4; plus just the original...

My system:

A64 4000+ @ 2.8 from 2.4
2x1gb value ram at ddr400
x1950xt 256

The screen it freezes on is the farcry splash screen with the black background; right before it should go through the ubisoft animation, then crytek, etc...

With lighting set to anything below very high it only takes about 10 seconds to load up to the ubisoft animation.

Any tips?
