It looks as though the movie adaptation of Far Cry is underway, helmed by none other than Uwe Boll. If Boll stays true to form, the movie will indeed be Far Cry…as in a far cry from what we know and love about the actual game. :(

Starting next month the Far Cry movie helmed by Boll will begin shooting with a schedule to do the whole thing in 9 weeks. As one would expect Boll is not one to ignore the minor details like the tropical setting Far Cry is known for. So he's chosen to film the movie in Canada.

Steve, perhaps the director didnt get the memo LOL. The only thing i could think of is Crysis. What I mean by that is the as most of us know the plot of Crysis involves the weather going nutty. Perhaps they are making it tie in somehow? Although I thought I read the Crysis movie was shelved?

I can already picture what the Canadian "jungle" will look like. There was a 2-part episode of Stargate SG-1 a few years ago where Daniel went to South America looking for some Ancient device. Seeing as the show is filmed outside Vancouver, BC and they were on a budget, the crew decided to stick a bunch of 2-10 ft bananna trees in between the very tall and obviously not jungle trees. I could tell right away. But it was Stargate so I let it slide. The least Boll could do is go to Hawaii and use the same "set" as LOST.

More to the point it's a Boll "film" and not worth my time.

For those of you wondering how Uwe Boll gets his funding... it has to do with a german tax loop.

Essentially, if a company invests in a film, and it flops, that investment can be written off as tax deductable. If that film succeeds, well, that company would benefit monetarily from the film. A win-win situation. It is a bit more complicated than that, but thats the short version of it.

And really, Uwe Boll, he is the only person I would ever wish to actual have DIAF, or, well, die by any means, actually...
