I will be building up a new PC at the end of this upcoming summer. I know, a long way away. :D I plan on probably spending around $1500-1700 on whatever components I can get by the end of summer. I am a gamer, so my purchases will reflect that (ie, more emphasis on video card than cpu) Including: one videocard, ~2GB ram, one HDD, one optical drive (hopefully blueray/HD ;) ), single proc. I know Nvidia was talking about releasing a line of DirectX 10 cards H2 2006, so I would prolly pick one of those up, if possible.

Question is:
I would like to purchase a new Fanless (or ultra-quiet) power supply NOW! What kind of power requirements should the thing handle if I'm going to use it with a system that won't even be built until end of summer/fall '06? Any sugg on models? Should I just wait?

I know this is kind of a difficult question, considering it depends on power requirements for unreleased video cards/processors.

I also figured that buying the PSU now wouldn't be that bad since PSUs arn't really dropping in price that fast..

I think the Seasonic S12 600w is your best bet. IT has a big ass 120mm fan, and it's very quiet. If you want absolute silence, then the Antec Phantom is pretty good.

my Seasonic is dead silent until it gets loaded, but you wouldn't have your PC running 3DMark overnight ;)
