This is the way I am think of placing my fans on my new case. Please, if you have any suggestions, please post them. I have read numerous fan placement guides, and all of them have told me to have more air going out of the case then in, so that's what I did. :)

If needed, the fans will be cooling the following items listed below..
- Intel Core Duo 2 E4300 CPU
- eVGA 7900GT KO GPU
- OCZ Special Ops 2GB (2X1GB) PC6400 800Mhz DDR2 (OCZ2SOE8002GK)
- Gigabyte GA-P965-DS3 Mobo
- 600watt Ultra PSU

1. 120mm fans are significantly quieter than 80mm fans - and push more air at the same time!

2. Your air movement plan is very "classic" - i.e., it was the standard layout from 286's -> P3's & early P4's.

3. Check out http://www.lian-li.com/product/product06.php?pr_index=8&cl_index=1&sc_index=1&ss_index=2&type=b - look at the bottom of the page - there's a nice air-flow animation.
This is becoming more common - draw in cool air from behind your case for the CPU HSF - that way your CPU isn't being cooled by "warm" air from inside your case.
(and exhaust out the side or top port)

Some people actually prefer positive air pressure (more air in) to negative. Negative air pressure has the downside of sucking in air and dust through every crevice, giving you 1.) an unpredictable airflow pattern 2.) air coming in through places where you might not have dust filters.

In either case, I personally would make the side panel fan intake to get fresh cool air to your CPU (and maybe vid card) area. Once again, the idea is that you're not cooling the CPU with air that's already been warmed by other components.

Whether being pulled in or pushed out, dust collection will always occur.

In my experience if your case has a lot of cracks and crevasses such as the P180 that I have does have better positive or equal airflow prevents dust from collecting around all of the cracks in the front of th case.

What would actually make more sense for case fan design, is to have exhaust venting in the top of the case (120mm x2) to help the heat exit the case where it is more likely to collect.

If you are not adverse to modifying your case, I would put a side panel fan over the center of the MB and one in the front- as you have illustrated (Intake). I would also put 2 120mm fans mounted at the top (exhaust) with a grill.

80mm fans are not known for their air movement at reasonable sound levels. At the very least, I would remove the two 80mm rear fans and just leave an opening.

Use the side fan as an intake. It'll get more cool air to the GPU and CPU. This will not be a quiet setup, but you will be able to run a lower speed front 120mm since it will only have to cool the HDD(s).

Thanks for your suggestions! :)

I actually wanted to use the 80MM fans because the ones I am using have a noise level of 21.... which is good...

I really don't want to play with the case so I really won't be able to add any extra fan holes...

Also, so should I change the fan on the side to be a intake so that it will blow fresh, cool air directly at the CPU?
