Fan not working (Weird)

Allright, so I set up my antec P180, and the fan at the top blowhole (came with the case, Antec TriCool) stops working after an hour. I'm thinking maybe the cable on the PSU is overloaded, switch to another connector, still nothing. I take it out, take it to my local computer hardware store, the guy hooks it up to his PSU and it works perfectly fine, the speed control and everything, again I take it home, put it in, nothing. The weird part is the other two (exact same fans) that came with the case, rear outtake and front intake are working perfectly fine. The fan isn't hooked up to the motherboard, directly to the PSU, so it shouldn't be temperature sensative. I'm at a loss, can someone help, it's like a half hour drive to the computer store and I don't want to have to make it again

Thats interesting, do you have another PSU to test it in at your house. Try to test it outside of the case with another psu if you have one. But just open up your case and take one of the power connectors and start up your computer and see what that does.

The first thing I would try is plugging the fan into a connector that another fan that works is plugged into, then plug that fan into another connector.

I would think that if it were overloading the PSU, you'd see at least a slight dip or flicker in the power supplied to the other fans. If you haven't seen that, I'd say swap a couple of the fans and see if:

1. A different fan will work on the connector that wasn't working with the first fan.

2. The first fan will work on a connector that a different fan worked on.

If you get the first situation, I'd say replace the first fan. If you get the second situation, I'd look at finding another power supply to test with. If you get both, buy a 1 liter bottle of Jack Daniels. Swig, swallow, repeat.

I'm going to try the different PSU idea, but I'm using the OCZ GamerXtream 600W and it's not loaded at all, 1HDD, X1900XTX, E6600, I'm plugging the fan that's not working into the same connector through the fan that is working, so basically, broken fan > working fan > powersupply, I've also tried just broken fan > powersupply. It's definately not a powersupply problem, the PSU is brand new, it's not being overloaded at all so one FAN won't mess it up. The only thing that comes to mind is the fact that the fan might be upside down and some connectors or something come loose inside that stop it from working, when the guy tested it at the store it was sideways. On a sidenote, he said it maybe that it's temperature sensative and won't turn on past a certain threshhold, but this normally happens only if it's plugged into a mobo and some kind of smart fan control is turned on, at default there shouldn't be anything like that.
