How would I mount case fans onto cardboard so that they don't make so much noise?
I'm currently using twist ties.

Not going to ask why you are mounting them on cardboard..:)

but the tighter the cardboard is to the fan the better..if it is too loose there will get a rattling effect...

Also make sure there is as little cardboard in front of the airflow of the fan to prevent noise...

Might have a better understanding if I knew in what way you were using the cardboard though

You may want to take some plastic, and mount that into the cardboard, then mount the fan into it.

What sort of plastic?

They are secured as tightly as the materials will allow, yet there is still vibration.

My computer is in a cardboard box

eek...I wouldnt be too demanding about noise having a cardboard box as a case..
You might want to put some sort of cloth or such to dampen between where the cardboard and the fan touches

Hard plastic im refering to, then again if you're gonna spend 5$ on material, you may as well get a 10 dollar generic case i suppose :D

I use the padding that comes with motherboards to silence stuff... You might cut superglue some of that to the side of the fan that will be touching the cardboard.

Normally I wouldn't say this, but since it's cardboard, I'm guessing you don't care too much about looks...
