My friend wants to trade me a p4 1.5 with 512mb of pc133 :( ram and mobo, for a 1.6 Duron with 128 mb of DDR pc2100 Ram with mobo. but as far as performance goes what should I do?

The P4 crawls with PC 133 ram, where as the duron will hop over it and keep going. ;)
Its just that it may be able to handle more stuff with 512 ram, rather 128. Its taking a step backwards. If you find the duron a little slow, add more ram to it.

Seconded and then multiplied to the umpteenth (thats a number isnt it?) Power.

A duron 1.6 is def faster. Price and name doesnt equal performance. A 1.5 p4 if i remember was equal to an athlon 1200 and p3 1200 or thereabouts.

Yeah and the Duron was competing against the P4, not just the celeron. :D
If you had atleast a 100 mhz faster duron it would've beat the old gen p4's. At equal clocks it was close.
Don't do the trade.

god i remember when i got my althlon xp 1600+. i laughed my ass off at the people getting p4s because it ran circles around the p4 1.7 Ghz. well, maybe not memory, but i'd rahter sacrifice that for faster in everything else. sigh....those were the days.
