FAH Servers down? (GPU2 Client)

I downloaded and reinstalled the GPU2 client this morning and got it running. Unfortunately, the client doesn't seem to be able to communicate with the server or get any work. Anyone else having problems? Servers down?

I'm running the 6.23 GPU2 client with the -forcegpu ati_r800 switch (I have a ATI 5750 in this machine).

They could be down. I remember when I was running the Ati client it would have issues receiving or sending work more often than my nVidia clients and believe they are different servers.

There is at least one server, 171.67.108.21, that is experiencing very high CPU and net loads. The AS kept assigning me to this server for about 10 times before I finally was assigned to a different server and received work. The majority of the servers are fine, but there are a couple having issues.

Yep, Tobit is right as usual. I have one client that is idle waiting. Hopeful this will be resolved quickly...

It's been 4 hours now and I'm still dead in the water. :-( My log file doesn't show any IP address for any server, so I can't check it against the server status page. Today is the first time I've tried to run the GPU client - I switched over from the SMP client this morning because I didn't feel it was running great on my modest machine.

Can some kind soul tell me if I can run the SMP client at the same time as the GPU client?

Certainly but there's a few things you might need to do. First, make sure that both clients have different machine ID if you're going to run them together. Second, you might need to increase priority to the GPU process to ensure it performs well with the SMP client.

you sure thats a valid -forcegpu setting? I'm seeing "-forcegpu ati_r700" for that generation ati card.

edit: aha! http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=5059&start=15#p159785 You need to update to 6.30 or use the r700 flag

-forcegpu ati_r800 does work on 5xxx series GPUs, but with fah GPU client versions 6.30 and higher.

GPU install guide modified to reflect this.

* ATI 3xxx series: -forcegpu ati_r600
* ATI 4xxx series: -forcegpu ati_r700
* ATI 5xxx series: -forcegpu ati_r800 (v6.30 or newer)
* nVidia 8x, 9x, 2xx series: -forcegpu nvidia_g80
* nVidia GTX 4xx series: -forcegpu nvidia_fermi

Yeah I discovered this information myself about 20 minutes ago.

I switched to the newest GPU3 and it's getting work and running. I also just cranked up the SMP client with a different MACHINE_ID, and it seems to be chugging along. I'll check on my progress over the next couple of days and see if I need to make tweaks.

Thanks for responding and trying to steer me in the right direction. I will peruse those links.

Anyone have info how this is coming along? Seems like there's still a problem. :confused: :(
