Months agao I had to shut down my GPU folding because of failed units. I have been looking around (not that hard just in Stanford's Folding Forums,) and none of what I have found has fixed my issues. No matter what I do the unit always comes back failed.

I am folding with a 560. If anyone has suggestions I'm open to listen. It's costing me and the [H] PPD. I have a 2500k and a 3600k running also so I still get my fix but I would like to get more points.

were you running with any kind of overclock?

what client version were you using?

did you use GPUtracker to set up your clients?

once I set up the tracker with the wrong gpu client and it would instantly fail work units.

The card is factory overclocked, however, I did reduce the clocks to non-overclocked levels and fixed the fan at 100%. Still the issue persists.

I am using client control 7.1.52.

No but I had the same issues when I was using it which lead me to downloading an offical stanford client.

my .02 I use this http://fahtracker.com/setup.html for my gpu's my 560ti is set gpu3/force gpu nvidia fermi, I once in a while get failed units, for some reason two of the same processes show up in task manager I kill one and all is well, what I have to do is start smp allow a frame to go by then start my gpu folding and all is well

are you using the old gpu client or the v7 client? if you are using the old gpu client try running the -forcegpu_fermi flag and forcing it to do gpu3 WU's. see if that solves the problem. also make sure you are NOT using nvidia beta drivers, they will not work 9 times out of 10, every once in a while you get a lucky beta driver that will actually let you fold. it'll show the same problems you are having with WU's failing constantly.

This.

U must use whql or non-beta drivers for the card to work correctly with the client.

I'm fairly certin that I don't have beta drivers but just to make sure I am dowlnloading the latest WHQL drivers and I will report back later.

Well that fixed it. I know that this isn't the first time I have installed different drivers to try and resolve the issue, but the fact remains that this time it worked and that is all that really matters.

yeah when it comes to the gpu client its a bitch and half dealing with nvidia drivers.. usually once i find a driver to fixes most of my games and works with folding i don't change them until i have a very specific need to update them. i mean hell i was running 258.96 drivers for ever because they were the most stable for me.. wasn't til there was an update with an sli profile i absolutely needed that i updated, ever since then i haven't been able to fold with any new drivers from that point on.

I used 266.58 for a very long time as my standard but recently had to update due to the new v7 nvidia GPU core_16 requiring 270.61 or newer to work. I'm on the beta team, so saw this new core early on. I've successfully upgraded to 285.58 XP and 285.62 W7 on all my GPU rigs. Has been running stable on one rig for 5-6 months and on the other three for about a month. One rig has two GPUs, the other three have three each. YMMV but this version has worked for me. Rigs are a mix of 9800s (G92) and GTX 460s. Hope this helps someone.
