F@H consuming almost NO RAM?

Well well... This is odd. On my last WU, I was using something like 200MB RAM for F@H. Now, on this WU, it's closer to 3.5MB. Same on my other box, as well.

1:Anyone care to speculate as to why this is happening?
2:What's the biggest chunk of RAM you've ever seen F@H take up?
3: Does the F@H proggie for Windows XP have any sort of memory leak that would eventually slow down the system if I left it running? I've not noticed anything, but I've only had this box up for a full day, and my work computers get shut off at night.

Each type of protien uses a different amount of RAM... tinkers and gromacs came out first and are relatively small... 10-30MB... The double gromacs, AMBERs, and the latest QMD cores use quite a bit more.... some as much as 300-400MB... (That's why I recommended at least 1 GB for your Dual Xeon boxen)......

Keep on Folding!!

OSUguy is right. 3.5mb I have seen. It'll most likely take more memory as it progresses but it won't be anything huge unless it's and Amber or QMD core. I've seen 380mb used while running a QMD protein. I once had two QMD molecules and 2 gromacs on my dual xeon with 1gb. Something like 950mb were being used. I didn't notice too much slowdown(2 procs w/HT really helps), but I immediately went and disabled two of the four F@H aps advmethods and bigwus checks. I have never heard of any memory leaks; it's just doing massive caclculations and they store the results temporarily in memory so it's faster. Fold on!

I've noticed this also, luckily my big duallies have 2Gb of RAM.
However I'v also noticed firefox sucking up 150Mb of ram at times.

I dont' use firefox, but I heard that the ram gets sucked up when you use tabbed browsing. Just a thought.
