Eyefinity: will the three images be consistent?

I've had experience with some LCD panels in the past where connecting via a VGA plug gave horrible image quality and using the same panel with HDMI was beautiful. Granted, that's analog vs digital, but it still makes me wonder: if I run Eyefinity with 2x DVI or 1 DVI, 1 HDMI and then the third using Displayport, what are the odds all of the monitors will have equal motion and color characteristics? After spending ~$1000 on displays it would really be a bummer for them to have mucked up images on the DP monitor, for example.

My monitors matched without any tinkering. One on Displayport, two on DVI.

Epic. Second question that I had forgotten about in original post; do they behave like three separate monitors or like one large monitor? There's pros and cons to both methods imo, for example I like to drag a window to my 2nd monitor and doubleclick the bar on top to have it maximize on that monitor, which wouldn't work if Windows views Eyefinity as one large monitor... right?

What you want to do is setup multiple display profiles. Generally one for desktop use where you have three individual monitors (windows can be maximized on each monitor) and another for gaming where the system treats all three as one large monitor. Then you can just hotkey between the two whenever you like.

If you're using a 69xx card then the monitor on displayport will tear.

I haven't heard about that before. I'm not disputing you, but do you have any links/info, I'd like to read up on it as I'm planning to upgrade soon.

Sounds like a blast. I'm looking at a 6850 myself, not sure if the budget will allow to me score 2 more monitors too, though... silly college bills and such. If you see any 2407wfp on the cheap, let me know. I'm prowling ebay nonstop :p

I don't want to seem rude with the google link, but I think it's a better way to see all the problems. I get the same issue too.
