Hey everyone... I recently won 500 dollars to best buy and am trying to figure out what to spend it on. Im looking at a 46 inch sammy led lcd 120hz for 1300 or 2 more of my sammy 23.7 led monitors for eyefinity. I do have a ps3 I currently use on a 27 inch sd crt. And a prob with the eyefinity setup is that they don't make mounts for my monitor. Any ideas guys? Or spend it on something else?

Any ideas? Im trying to find the best tv for the money... a 42" isn't out of the question. I've thought about a panasonic g20 as well 42. I don't want to spend anymore than I have to.

also looking at this one

Panasonic - VIERA 42" Class / 1080p / 600Hz / Plasma HDTV

Wow. That was comical. Ask a question, answer it yourself, and only after you've decided, somebody else chimes in for the Eyefinity.

I have a 56" 1080p DLP and Eyefinity. I think you should choose the option that you would use the most. Eyefinity is great, but so is a large TV to watch movies (because that's all i use my ps3 for). If you play a lot of ps3 & watch movies, you should choose the TV.

If you play a LOT of FPS or racing games on the PC, then Eyefinity is better. Unfortunately for me, I was a little too enthusiastic about Eyefinity and probably should have waited because I play mostly RTS games (and LoL now). So my other 2 LCDs for Eyefinity rarely get used.

Oh, and the burn-in is highly overrated now, imho. It is noticeable if you leave it on the screen long enough, so it may be a problem if you have the character stat overlays on the screen for long periods.

lol, yeah, i figured if I kept at it someone would eventually chime in.

so im between these three monitors now...

panasonic 50" g20 - $1099

Panasonic 50" U2 - $699

Samsung 46 inch LED - $999

the 699 one looks good do to the fact im only actually paying $200 out of pocket. is the g20 that much better? Ive seen a 55" samsung LED LCD ( roomate used to have one) and the picture was great, My PC monitor is currently the Samsung syncmaster PX2370 as well. I havent ever had a plasma and just want to know if the picture would be that much better on say the g20 vs that samsung LED.

also: mostly it is going to be for blu-ray watching with some light gaming thrown in, I do most of my gaming on my pc.

thanks for the responses guys!

I would really like some help here guys as im buying tomorrow and so far ive only gotten 1 response in 8 days. I know you guys can do better!

Plasma is a near obsolete technology. They are massive power hogs. You can count on spending a couple hundred more over a year on utility costs over an LED. So your not saving anything in the long run.

Also most PS3 games are in 720p, that looks a little pixelated on a 50" screen. I would not get a 50" + screen unless blu-ray movies is your primary focus.

Wrong! The new Plasma technology produces the best picture available. They might be a little thicker panels than LCD/LED but the picture is much better with Plasma.

The Viera class Panasonic Plasma are the best on the market.

okay I think im almost settled on the g20. i just need justification on why I need to spend 64% more for the same size screen. can anyone really tell me if it is worth it or not? what does the g20 bring to the table to justify the increased cost? is it just the THX mode? also where can I get something that can calibrate?

Yeah I would go with eyefinity, I used a Westy 37w3 for a while then later I got a ATI 5770 and decided to get three monitors for my current setup. Playing TF2 and CS:S with three monitors is awesome.

I'm beyond confused, personally...had no idea you could use more than one monitor with a ps3. I don't understand what this thread is about.

I'm with ya. Eyefinity is an AMD Radeon thing. How does that apply to PS3? Does not compute.

Edit:
Nm, I think I understand what the OP is asking. (i.e. whether he wants a large HDTV for PS3/movies or two small LCDs for PS3/movies + PC gaming Eyefinity.. I think)

LED power consumption = 100 watts which = .75 cents an hour

Plasma power consumption = 300 watts which = 2.25 cents an hour

both of these are averages and based upon 8 cents a KW/h which is what we pay up here in Washington state.

Average TV watching at 4 hours a day

LED = 10.95 a year power consumption

Plasma = 32.85 a year power consumption

Even if you lived in a state that charges 14 cents a KW/h it still wouldn't be a couple hundred more a year. So next time before you spout something off make sure you know your facts.

I have a Panasonic Plasma 54" S1 series. Best value TV rated on the avsforums.com and Plasma's refresh rates are better , the blacks are better and they are more clear than LCD's anyday of the week. Blu-ray content on Plasma's are amazing.
