Extremly Odd Temps

I've been running my A64 3000+ for a few weeks now and it's been running really, really hot. Mid 50's idle, and sometimes hitting 75 (where the beep goes off) during gaming. So I decided I need to change something, I booted into BIOS and lowered the multiplier to 9 and changed the multiplier to 210 (which lost me 100mhx, but that I'll deal with later). I boot back into windows and my temps are idling at 25! I ran Prime95 for a few hours and my load was in the low 50's.

This doesn't seem to make much sense to me... is this (even close to) normal?

Errr... forgot to mention. My heatsink is a Swiftech MCX-64
 
Well, first of all go to your Manifacturer MOBO website, and download the lastes BIOS update.

i had 65c temps for my 3000+ and i updated (flashed the bios) and now the temps are at 36celcius, 46celcius loaded at 2.3ghz (300mhz OC)
 
I updated BIOS before the post, showed no change in temps. Booted into BIOS and I couldn't change the multiplier! So I had to revert back the the BIOS I was using. I find it really odd that at 1890mhz (210x9) it runs in mid 20's and at 1935+ (215x9) it runs in the mid-to-upper 50's....
 
i was having the same problems and i just installed the drivers dated on 8/20/04 and they seem to have solved the problem my temps are idling around 30 deg now
 
Swiftech MCX64, airflow is good.... I'm truly confused..... I'll give it a little bit.
 
hmm this is a thinker...
well i have no A64 experience but i thought that there have been errors with motherboards showing incorrect temps in the A64 field.
sorry, i dont know :( but hey, if its cool now then ur good to go :p
