My external USB 2.0 hard drive was working fine while I was rummaging through it and listening to music off of it earlier today. But when I turned off my computer and removed it to use in a friend's computer, Windows wouldnt recognize it. I tried it on his computer, his family computer, his laptop, my personal computer (in which it has worked before), and my family computer. All of them do the exact same thing and say that they have found an unknown device on the USB bus, but windows can't find drivers for it or recognize it as a mass storage device. The drive is just shy of a year old, but I use it almost every day as music storage and as a backup device. Any Ideas?

hmm,i have a similar problem. bought a new usb-ide hdd today.
hooked it up and turned it on, windows does recognise it as mass storage device, it even shows up in the device manager, but there is no icon for the disk to acces it:( , like it isn't there.
