External Hard Drive Enclosure

I got an external enclosure for a hard drive that I needed some files from so I could transfer them to my laptop. The hard drive had three partitions and all work fine except the third one which about half of the files on will not open or copy to the drive on the laptop. Is there anything I can do to fix this or is there a physical problem with that sector of the hard drive?
