Explain these processor differences to me.

[harsaphes]

Morning. I've been looking over the specs of the Lonovo Yoga Pro 3 and I see the processor is Intel Core M 5Y70 . The previous model, Yoga Pro 2 has an Intel Core i7-4500U. Can anyone explain why I would want one over the other?
Thanks.

Basically it looks like the i7-4500U would offer slightly better performance but the Core M-5Y70 is very low power, giving good battery life. Depends on your priorities.

Here's a tech spec comparison: http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/896/Intel_Core_M_5Y70_vs_Intel_Core_i7_Mobile_i7-4500U.html

Hmm. It would be nice to see some benchmarks instead of just feature comparisons.

Thanks.

For a mostly mobile device you want Core M definitely as it implements a broadwell core.

Thanks. Now I need to wait for the reviews.

If you want to wait Intel will launch Broadwell ULVs at CES (Jan 2015).

Don't forget that the integrated GPU (and an SSD in either) can make all the difference in real world performance, not just CPU benchmarks.
