I have to admit it has been a long time since I have been this excited about a processor launch. Anyone know what time the Conroe announcement is Thursday?
 
I went to scan today for my conroe and they said even if you preorder them the situation is lookiing as if it will be late august , i have got use to the idea now and not really bothered.

I even paid up front and then they checked , i took my money back after that.

Things in the uk are not looking good, patiance is a virue but we dont know what that is , or the benefits of it.
 
I want that fucking x975 chip asap..before I bust a cap in someones face...I mean a load..I mean Rkelly urine.
 
Haha yeah, I haven't had a my own PC in over a year and am just sitting here waiting. I have all my parts here except for conroe E6600 and I am getting a little antsy!

Hold the rice....

Intel's about to make things even uglier by shipping Kentsfield (the quad-core Son Of Conroe) *three months early* (4Q2006, basically, in time for the Christmas season).

Kentsfield will use the *same* motherboards Core 2 Duo does today (if it supports Core 2 Duo, it *will* support Kentsfield, without ifs, buts, or maybes) with, at worst, a BIOS change (however, most motherboards won't even need that; Intel's own D975XBX Revision 304 runs Kentsfield as is today).

The lack of Conroe stock, along with Kentsfield's early launch, makes waiting seem like a very safe bet.

It wasn't even launched and you know there's a lack of Conroe stock :rolleyes: .Why don't you listen to Intels earnings release audio to see how much "Conroe" stock they have ?

As we are seeing initial availability of Conroe is rather difficult. And why is Conroe important, when Kentsfield will launch three months later, at worst?

Kentsfield will NOT require a motherboard change (in fact, it won't require any changes from an existing Conroe setup). It has twice as many cores, and will even be at the same price points when it launches.

All I am saying that if you can afford to wait, why NOT wait?

Conroe hasn't launched , so it's pretty clear why it is hard to find.. :rolleyes:

Because Kentsfield won't be at the same price point , be ready to pay at least $600-700 for the normal Kentsfield and $999 for the XE version.

For some task, Conroe will be faster simply because it has more MHz.This is the case for games when you compare the 3.2GHz Conroe XE6900 and the 2.66GHz Kentsfield XE , altough both cost $999.

Kentsfield isn't meant to replace Conroe , but to complement it as a niche high end version .

Exactly. Gamers and home users have zero need for quad cores. Mostly I think its to slap 4x4 in the face.

Replace Conroe, no. Push it downstream; heck YES!

Kentsfield's launch will spell the end for the P4. Period.

I may see Kentsfield as *initially* filling some holes, but the technology is going to head downstream a lot quicker than anyone suspects.

How to push it downstream when Kentsfield is more or less an Extreme Edition ? Did Pentium XE or Athlon FX pushed the rest downstream ? :rolleyes:

How to spell the end for the P4 when the most expensive P4 is 150$ and the least expensive Kentsfield is over $600.What technology ?

Sorry , but you need some clues in economics and logic.
